LIMESTONE
INDUCTION
Limestone is a carbonate rock with calcite as its main component. APPLICATION
Limestone is an important industrial raw material in metallurgy, building materials, chemical industry, light industry, construction, agriculture and other special industrial sectors. With the development of the steel and cement industries, the importance of limestone is bound to increase further.
As an important non-metallic mineral resource, limestone is used in traditional industries and emerging high-tech fields. The main application categories and specific uses are as follows:
I. Construction and building materials industry
Cement production : Limestone is the main raw material for cement, consuming about 1.4 to 1.5 tons of limestone for every ton of cement clinker produced. China's annual output of cement exceeds 2.3 billion tons, and the annual consumption of limestone reaches more than 2.8 billion tons.
Lime products : Quicklime (CaO) and hydrated lime (Ca(OH)₂) can be made by calcination and used in coating materials such as lime paste and lime paste or in brick and tile adhesives.
Glass manufacturing : mixed with quartz sand, soda ash melt at high temperature to make glass.
II. metallurgical industry
Steelmaking and iron : As a flux to remove harmful impurities such as sulfur and phosphorus, it can also separate gangue in iron making.
Calcium carbide production : reacts with coke in an electric furnace to produce calcium carbide (CaC₂), which is used in acetylene chemical industry.

Environmental protection :
Calcium oxide (quicklime) is used in industrial wastewater treatment, waste incineration and flue gas desulfurization.
Calcium hydroxide (hydrated lime) can soften hard water and neutralize acidic wastewater.
Nanomaterials : Ultra-fine ground to make nano-calcium carbonate, which is used in high value-added products such as rubber, plastics, and coatings.
IV. Agriculture and daily life
Soil improvement : Hydrated lime neutralizes acidic soil, improves structure and provides calcin.

V. Food and Cosmetics :
Food grade calcium hydroxide is used for acidity regulation of dairy products, beer, etc.
Powdered calcium carbonate is added to toothpaste, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.

Limestone can replace plastic to make pipes, packaging materials, become green mineral resources.
